From Janitor to Church-Planter

A couple of years ago a woman named Susana, mother of two teenagers, was hired to do the cleaning at our church in Chiconautla.  Susana and her family had been members of our church for a short time, but were always faithful and growing quickly in the Lord.  After a year or so of cheerfully cleaning and doing whatever else she was asked, it became clear that Susana had the gift of evangelism.  She began volunteering under the staff member in charge of evangelism, and then became her faithful assistant officially, gradually leaving the cleaning to someone else.  She began taking Bible classes whenever offered to compliment her Jr. High-level education, and has grown by leaps and bounds in her faith and in responsibility.  Susana then spent a year as director of the evangelism ministry in Chiconautla, and is now director of the La Guadalupana church-in-formation.  

We have learned that God doesn’t always use the most learned or the most “qualified”, but those with a willing heart.  The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:4, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.”  And in 2 Corinthians 12:9 Paul reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient, for his power is made perfect in weakness.  Susana’s life is testimony to this, for even in her apparent lack of intellectual preparation, she has a powerful message to share about the transforming power of Christ, and God has used her to reach countless others for his kingdom.
